Entry #2: Meg 2 - The big shark movie

I want to talk about a movie that I recently saw in theatres, Meg 2: The Trench. While I didn't come into the movie expecting much of it, I was shockingly disappointed. I don't usually have a lot of criticism for movies but I left the theatre early because I got so bored of the movie. I am going to talk about some moments that seemed very abnormal and that were definitely not written well at all.

My very first issue with the movie is how the first intense moment happened. This guy was inside the cage with the megalodon which he said he had a connection to. Everyone in the room had a view into the enclosure of the meg. They all shared their displeasure with swimming with the shark. And unsurprisingly, the giant shark lunged at him. Everyone thought he died but he seemingly teleported to the door of that room not even 5 seconds later. That entire scene seemed very of and extremely unrealistic.

The way the conflict was introduced was because the Meg escaped the enclosure because it broke through what I assume to be a water filtration system that was conveniently the size of the Megalodon.

The story then tries to create the narrative that there is an evil corporation that is mining rare stones from the bottom of the ocean that the main group coincidentally stumbles on while escaping from a large amount of Megs. The bad guys blow up the entire trench because they were discovered? This broke a hole in a layer of clouds in the water that prevented the megs form getting to the mining base. So now the good guys have their submarine destroyed and they have to walk across the ocean bed in these high tech suits to get to the bad guys base underwater because there was a person that mysteriously sabotaged the rescue sub that was in the surface.

When I went to watch the movie I expected to see a good movie about Giant sharks. But, Instead I got a terribly written Mystery movie that struggles to even be considered a mystery. There are a ton of moments and dialogue which seemed highly unnatural. It's a movie that I would consider very bad and probably not a great use of time to go watch it. This movie had a $129 Million Budget and it disappointed me greatly.

Entry #1 What are Blogs?

Throughout all of my life I have barely heard anything about blogs. I've heard people mention "Blog posts" in very specific contexts so I never could figure out what they were. I researched some blogs and I was introduced to a whole side of the internet that I didn't know existed.

The first blog I decided to look at was from the creators of one of my favorite Videogames, Omori. This blog wasn't completely dedicated to the game in the past. It was from a person who went by Omocat. The blog was used to show off art and comics about an original character that turned into a passion project. The blog had a bit of everything, it had updates about the game, it had outside art, and it had advertisements for sponsors or partners that they worked with. The Archive for the blog has a picture and usually has a short caption explaining what it is or a description on what is coming in the future. While the game has been finalized and released, they are still advertising merch with the latest post as of date was in August 18, 2023.

The second blog that I looked at was Yahoo Sports. This blog is very different from the last. It involves everything with sports news and game results. Something that I don't like is that the entire front page is filled with only football news and nothing else. The front page has results for recent games on collage level and the professional level for a large number of sports. I do like that they include a tab that lets you pick between any individual sport that you want to look at, it makes it simple to get the information that you want to look at and nothing else. This is a blog that I personally wouldn't visit on a regular basis but I might go back to it later in the future.

The third blog that I looked at was A Beautiful Mess. This blog is dedicated to sharing recipes, DIY designs, project advertisements, along with personal and professional advice. I like that this blog has a little bit of everything and that it's all separated by simple tabs that are easy to use and look at. Everything is very accusable and it's all very visually pleasing. This blog is meant to share ideas and provide advice to people that need them and people that are interested in their work.

Looking at different types of blogs has made me realize all the different types of utilities and ways to express yourself that can be achieved with a single post. This has given me a bigger appreciation for blogs and I am very glad that I have the opportunity to express myself through this medium. I hope that you'll follow me through my journey of blogging.
